Construction commenced in March 2005 of the Alta Harris Creek Project along the Boise River. This page shows a number of early photos of the construction work by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game crew.
This first photo above is looking upstream at the bottom end of the lower section of chsnnel. By mid April this section of channel began to fill as groundwater infiltration commenced with the river elevation being raised by the Ridenbaugh Canal diversion.
This photo looks downstream (west) at the lower section of channel. Note the excavated material was carefully spread to the north side away from the wetlands adjacent to the channel.
Photo above is taken March 29 in an eastern direction. This shows the upper section of stream on the Idaho Power Company property (note the powerlines above).
It is necessary there be a stream crossing on the Idaho Power Company property and thanks to a generous contribution from the Ada County Highway District we had ourselves a six foot diameter culvert for the crossing!
Further upstream, near a lone cottonwood tree at the east end of the Idaho Power Company property, the track excavator works up the channel.
April 2005 and the water has infiltrated the constructed side channel. Stream banks will soon be planted.
But prior to planting it is necessary to place some check dams in the channels so the water elevations can be raised. Here is Steve Clayton carrying a hay bale for the stream.
Chris Jones and Steve place bales in the lower section of Alta Harris Creek.
Group photo as the bales are placed in the stream channel.
