Redds in the south channel photos taken in the fall of 2005, documenting the success of this project.
An electrofishing survey conducted in the fall of 2004 by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game indicated that there is a self sustaining population of wild brown and rainbow trout living in the reach of river from Barber Park downstream to Eagle. However, quality spawning habitat is in short supply.
Our TU chapter partnered in the project with IDFG, the Rotary Club of Boise and the Boise Parks and Recreation Department. We had a good turnout with more than 40 volunteers, and we had a fun time, good camaraderie, and a beautiful riverside setting as a backdrop.
Idaho Fish and Game is providing fisheries expertise and planning to this effort.
