Ted Trueblood

Who is Ted Trueblood?Ted Trueblood taught valuable lessons about how to fish but, far more memorably, he taught generations how to think about fishing, about the fish, and the fish’s habitat. For more than 40 years in the pages of Field & Stream, True, and other magazines and in books, native Idahoan Ted Trueblood wrote about fishing and hunting. The clarity and simple elegance of his writing conveyed knowledge--he was an undisputed expert in the subjects he wrote about--and he entertained us. When he had a message about conservation, he presented it clearly and often passionately but without preaching. He had a style and a vision still unmatched by any other writer. Though Ted Trueblood has been gone since 1982, none of us who cares about his Idaho has forgotten him or his way of thinking about our relationship to fish and wildlife. That’s why this chapter of Trout Unlimited is named for the man. |
